Kayauchi Banta

Kayauchi-banta is a sheer cliff located in Kunigami Village in northern Okinawa Island. Known as a scenic spot offering a panoramic view of the East China Sea from its 80-meter-high cliff, it is a popular tourist destination where visitors can enjoy the beauty of Okinawa's nature. The name "Chiuchi-banta" is said to have originated from the fact that in the past, when bundles of thatch grass were thrown off the cliff at this location, they would scatter due to the strong wind.

Chiuchi-banta is a dramatic cliff located in Kunigami Village, northern Okinawa Island. Renowned for its breathtaking panoramic views of the East China Sea from an 80-meter height, it's a popular tourist destination where visitors can immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Okinawa. The sunset view is particularly stunning, captivating all who visit. The surrounding area offers plenty of other attractions. Just a 10-minute drive away is the magnificent limestone cave, Gyokusendo, and the northernmost point of Okinawa Island, Cape Hedo. Kayauchi-banta is also part of the Yanbaru National Park, allowing visitors to experience the subtropical nature. As there are no food or drink facilities near Kayauchi-banta, it's advisable to bring your own supplies. Although it takes about 2.5 hours to get there from Naha Airport via National Route 58, it's a worthwhile destination that won't disappoint.
