The Cycling Island Kyushu Executive Committee, in collaboration with RAGING BULL and Yabakei Cycling Tours, will hold a fan meeting. Through talk sessions and rides, this special event will offer a day to discuss and experience the future of cycling culture.

Concept
Nakatsu, located in the northern region of Oita Prefecture, is a land rich in nature. Here, a man who once lived in New York and was part of the BMW family, witnessing NYC’s cycling community firsthand, has opened a new shop dedicated to cyclists.

Can a bike shop thrive in such a remote location, away from the urban centers? It is precisely because of this challenge that his passion for building a cycling community stands out.

His vision extends beyond a mere bicycle shop. He aims to create a gathering place not only for cyclists but also for those who love fashion, culture, and the street scene. At the core of his vision lies the influence of Brooklyn Machine Works, the legendary frame manufacturer based in Brooklyn, New York. This globally recognized brand was more than just a bike company; it was a cultural hub where skaters, rappers, and people from diverse backgrounds intersected. His dream is to create a similar space in Nakatsu, and two years ago, he moved his base to this region to turn that vision into reality.

For this event, we welcome Matsunaga from Yabakei Cycling Tours, who has been promoting cycling culture in the Yabakei region, along with Kuroki from RAGING BULL, who will share his experiences with Brooklyn Machine Works and discuss the allure of cycling culture. Additionally, Takabayashi, who has been actively involved in Japan’s professional racing scene and played a key role in producing the Sparkle Oita Racing Team, will also join. He will talk about the development of cycling culture in Oita and the journey of his team.

Together, let’s discuss the emerging cycling culture in Nakatsu and Yabakei, envision its future, and enjoy a ride through the Nakatsu area.
