Niji no Matsubara "Niji no Matsubara" is a national special scenic spot that stretches along the coastline of Karatsu Bay and is one of Japan's three major pine forests. The green tunnel formed by one million black pines stretching over 4.5 km feels like an entrance to another world. In the early 17th century, the first lord of the Karatsu domain, Terazawa Hirotaka, began planting trees here for wind and tide protection.

day_1

Karatsu Castle Karatsu Castle offers a breathtaking view of the picturesque Genkai Sea! The castle, built by Terazawa Hirotaka, a retainer of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, is full of historical romance and is also known as "Maiduru Castle." If you visit by bike while feeling the sea breeze, the view from the restored main keep is extraordinary! The castle is beautiful during cherry blossom and wisteria seasons, and you can also immerse yourself in culture at the historical museum and Karatsu ware exhibition inside the castle.

Tonbai Refractory Brick Quarry In the backstreets of Arita, you can find retro walls made from leftover refractory bricks (tonbai) used for climbing kilns. Every corner is a picturesque spot.

Kojimaya Dorayaki "Kojimaya's dorayaki is baked with carefully selected ingredients, creating a moist, chewy, and fluffy texture with a refined sweetness that fills both your body and heart."

day_4

Lunch in the Yobuko Area In the Yobuko area, the local lunch specialty is fresh squid sashimi and squid shumai (steamed dumplings). You can enjoy the sweetness and elasticity of the transparent squid, and the exquisite seafood while overlooking the sea is exceptional. The vitality of the fishing town adds to its charm.
